This contemplative tour focuses as much on ancient sights and the landscape as it does on the mind. Through the course of the six days you’ll visit stone circles, burial chambers and medieval castles with plenty of time left over for contemplation.
Few places lend themselves to spiritual enlightenment and healing better than Wiltshire and the Welsh countryside. They’re dotted with ancient sites steeped in mystery and intrigue, so not only will you discover places you never knew existed, you’ll also, with the help of your Pagan Minister guide, begin a spiritual inner journey, too. The tour itself is a great mix of organised visits and time for personal thought.
This contemplative tour provides a good mix of organised visits and time for personal thought and starts as it means to go on. Voted one of the UK’s top five spiritual places, Avebury stone circle is your first port of call. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it’s among Europe’s largest prehistoric stone circles, so it certainly makes for an impressive starting point. The following days also take some beating – you’ll journey through Carmarthenshire - Merlin’s birthplace, explore the medieval Carreg Cennan castle perched on a crag in the Brecon Beacons, and take in the natural wonders of the Pembrokeshire National Coast Park, so it goes without saying the scenery will be breathtaking. Cliff-top walks, woodland and beaches provide the perfect backdrop for contemplation.
If you’re a cynic of any sort then no, this really isn’t one for you. You’ll need an open mind, a desire to reconnect with the landscape and with those who’ve gone before you, and you should have an interest in Paganism. If you tick off those three prerequisites then go for it, if, however, you’re not sure, then it’s probably not the one for you. The tour can work if you’re travelling solo, but because you can share experiences, it’s definitely more holistic if you’re in a group.
