Only accessible by sea and air and nestled along the ocean in between mountains that range from 3,500-7000 feet in height, Juneau is truly an isolated gem. The city has some magnificent views of glaciers and is stunning. You will travel to Haines. It is here where you can watch the endangered bald eagle soar in a preserve meant to foster the species’ growth. Nearby you’ll cruise along the Lynn Canal, the longest fjord in the world. You’ll take in Skagway, which back in the 19th Century at the height of the goldrush was Alaska’s largest city. Now a laidback coastal community, the preserved buildings in the historic district give a real taste of what life was like for prospectors hoping to find their fortunes! You’ll also travel to historic Dyea which was once a spot on the Gold Rush trail, but now just has some haunting remnants including cemeteries of hopeful diggers.
This tour boasts a wide range of awesome activities through which you can experience Alaska in different ways. You’ll ride your bikes to Douglas Island where you might see the remnants of 19th and 20th century gold mines. You will take a cruise through the chilly glacial waters that surround Juneau and see the longest fjord in the world. At an Eagle preserve, you will have an opportunity to photograph bald eagles as they nest in the Alaskan calm. You’ll glide silently through emerald colored lakes and view aquatic wildlife from your own kayak. Also enjoy leisurely picnics and walks through quaint small towns as you enjoy the variety of options that Alaska offers.
