Rafting South Africa’s longest river

Rafting The Orange River

Explore the Richtersveld desert reserve on the water in this 4 day rafting trip. Tackle some exhilarating rapids and then paddle gently along the quieter stretches, enjoying the awe-inspiring scenery along the way.

This expedition sees you spending 4 days rafting on the mighty Orange River. South Africa’s longest river winds its way through the rugged mountains of the Richtersveld desert reserve with some stunning scenery. Paddle past water monitors basking in the hot African sun and watch storks and egrets perching on the lush riverbanks.

In between these tranquil stretches of water, tackle some of the fast flowing rapids and surf the river waves. Experienced guides will be on hand constantly to help you through the tougher bits and to offer advice and encouragement. At the end of each hard, but rewarding, days rafting, you will set up camp on the river banks. Take the opportunity to go for a hike in the stunning landscape and then sit back, relax and enjoy the beautiful night sky, before you start your next day of rafting.

You don’t have to be an expert paddler or swimmer to take part in this adventure. There are guides on hand to support you throughout and there is also a safety briefing prior to the trip to ensure you know what you are doing. You will be camping along the way, so if you have a great fear of creepy crawlies and hate to be separated from your curling tongs, then you might struggle with this one!
