Overnight Safari from Cape Town

Overnight Safari from Cape Town - cheetah

This overnight safari from Cape Town is perfect if you are short on time. You will stay in a 4 star lodge in a private game reserve on South Africa's Western Cape. The accommodation has all the mod cons you need, and after you've settled in you will be able to get out onto the plains where the rhino, buffalo, cheetah and zebra roam!

South Africa is a stunning country, famed for its natural beauty, flora and indigenous animals. This private game reserve sits just on the edge of the Great Karoo, a desert-like region of more than 400,000 square kilometres. With hundreds of wild animals roaming free the reserve gives you an excellent opportunity to view game just a stones throw from Cape Town.

This trip is all about relaxation. From the moment your overnight safari from Cape Town begins, everything is taken care of. You will be picked up from your Cape Town accommodation and transported to the safari camp in a luxury 4x4 vehicle. The journey is about 2 1/2 hours through some spectacular scenery. Once you have arrived, you will enjoy an al fresco lunch, followed by some relaxation time - possibly lounging by the pool or taking the quad bikes out around the camp. Later that afternoon you will go off on the first of 2 game drives, followed by a sumptuous 5 course meal back at the lodge. The next morning sees you off on another game drive before breakfast.

Of course this trip is also about the animals and you won't be disappointed. Herds of kudu and eland graze alongside zebra and buffalo. There are also giraffes, lions and rhinos to be seen and your guide will be on hand to help you to spot them. After a full breakfast, it's back to Cape Town, with possibly a stop off en-route for a spot of wine tasting. The perfect end to a perfect break!

If you want to go on safari and really "rough it" you might be disappointed with this one. This trip offers safari with a taste of luxury, and includes air conditioning, swimming pool, 5 course fusion meals and wine tasting. The safari game drives are guided by local rangers, but do bear in mind that there can be no guarantees about which animals you will and won't see, as they are prone to unpredictability!

Past visitors have raved about how knowledgeable the guides were and that every detail was taken care of. The guides can also offer you guidance on the rest of your trip in South Africa, and explain the complicated political history of the country.

We were treated to walks with giraffes and really enjoyed the cheetahs. It was unbelievable and a memory of a life time.

  2. First off, Kevin is one of the nicest people I met in Cape Town let alone in my life. A truly genuine and insightful person you can learn a lot from.. Not just about safaris and South Africa, but about geology, botany, engineering, politics, where to eat, where to stay, where/what car to rent, how to get to the airport, worth-while tours, red wine, white wine, other places to see, and the appreciation of nature and life!! Oh -- and then you get to the game reserve and see some of the most amazing animals on the planet.. An incredible experience, indeed! From the time you get picked up, to the time they drop you off at your hotel. Afruka tours and Kevin were some of the most accommodating and knowledgeable guides you could ask for.

  3. A great tour, very well organised with a really knowledgeable guide. The reserve is great and you'll get up close to lots of different animals with the benefit of an excellent park ranger. It's perfect if you only have a few days in Cape Town and I would definitely recommend Afruka tours if you are looking to do something a little bit different.
